Kentucky State Police Investigating Injury Collision in Lyon County

NEWS RELEASE

EDDYVILLE, KY. (September 14, 2022) – Troopers with Kentucky State Police (KSP), Post 1 are investigating a Wednesday morning collision that sent an Indiana man to an out of state hospital. Just before 9:00am CT, Kentucky State Police, Post 1 received a call of a single vehicle collision in the 3000 block of US 641 in Lyon County. KSP Post 1 Troopers and KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officers responded to the scene to investigate the collision.

Initial investigation indicates that Corey Bridges, 43 years old of Newburgh, Indiana was traveling south on US 641, operating a 2014 Volvo commercial vehicle loaded with gravel. The truck dropped off the right shoulder of the roadway. Bridges attempted to correct the lane departure and brought the truck back onto the roadway, but again lost control and the vehicle exited the right side of the road a second time. At this time the truck struck a ditch, overturned and came to final rest on the roof of the vehicle. The load of gravel was spilled on the roadway during the collision. Bridges was extricated from the vehicle by mechanical means. He was transported by AirEvac to a hospital in Indiana for treatment of injuries sustained during the collision. Bridges was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision.

The investigation is ongoing by Trooper Derek Scott. Kentucky State Police was assisted on scene by Lyon County EMS, Eddyville Fire Department, Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, and the Kentucky Department of Transportation.
