Area players went to Jackson, Tenn. to participate in the HUB City Spring Showdown April 26-28. Held at Conger Park on 12 courts, 215 players competed in Singles, Men’s and Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles in 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 and 5.0/Open Divisions.
Several local players who have advanced to upper-level divisions played in 4.0, 4.5 and 5.0 divisions with some very stiff competition. This was a prize money tournament with a $7,000 purse for 5.0/Open players. Jeremy Hudgin and Cory York were undefeated and came home with Gold in 4.0 Men’s Doubles. Other players included Brent Thompson playing 4.5 and 5.0/Open, Jennifer Wilson playing 4.5 and 5.0/Open, Todd Dotson playing 4.5 Division.
