Homer Newton Jr., 67, of Benton, passed away at Monday, May 1, 2017 at his residence.
Homer is survived by his wife, Marilyn Faughn Newton of Benton; his daughter, Mandy Francis Bobo and husband David F. of Hardin; two sons, Phillip Lynn Newton and wife Le’Etta of Hardin, and Homer Ray Newton of Murray; five grandchildren, David Isaiah Bobo, Josiah Glenn Newton, Sonia Renee’ Newton, Elizabeth Nicole Newton and Victoria Marie Dehaven; two great-grandchildren, David Newton and Louis Perry; siblings, Margaret McLeod and husband Buddy of Kentucky, Judy McLeod of Benton, Kathy King of Benton, Thomas Newton and wife Marilyn of Benton, Carl Newton and wife Sue of Benton, George Newton and wife Brenda of Benton and Gerald Edwards of Benton; and his mother, Willie Irene Collins Edwards of Benton.
He is preceded in death by his father, Homer Newton; a sister, Irene Turner; and a niece, Melissa McLeod.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2017, at the Benton Cemetery. Rev. Cletus Bowman will officiate and burial will follow. The family will receive friends after 1 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2017, at the Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home.
