Paducah man seriously injured in motorcycle collision Thursday, airlifted to Vanderbilt

crash3SHARPE – A 61 year-old Paducah man was seriously injured in a motorcycle collision Thursday on US Highway 68 in Sharpe. According to police reports, 62 year-old Melody Pool was traveling East on US 68 when she slowed to turn left onto Shawn Drive in Lauren Estates.

Pool turned into the path of an oncoming motorcycle driven by Wayne Deboe, who was traveling West bound on US 68 and tried to stop but could not. Deboe struck the truck in the right rear door of the Crew Cab driven by Pool, ejecting him off of the motorcycle.

Deboe was transported by Marshall County EMS to Lourdes Hospital and then later transferred to Vanderbilt Trauma Center in Nashville, Tenn. by Air Evac Air Medical.
Deboe was not wearing a helmet and suffered injuries to his head and neck area.

Pool and a passenger, 49 year-old Cindy Morris, of Paducah, were not injured. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Marshall County EMS, Possum Trot – Sharpe Fire Department and Marshall County Sheriff’s Office Re-constructionist Deputy Nathan Maxlow.

As the 400-mile yard sale continues into today and tomorrow, motorists are advised to take extra precaution and are also asked to not park on the side of the road as this creates hazardous conditions for all.
