Kuttawa Harbor Marina was the site of the Region 1 Bass Fishing Tournament held on Friday. Seven Marshall County anglers qualified for the KHSAA Bass Fishing State Championships to be held on May 9-11 on Kentucky Lake at Kentucky Dam Marina.
Marshall County’s Clayton Wyatt and Ty Redden are the 2024 Region 1 Champions after taking the win with 18 lbs. 6 oz. Maxson Mitchell and Hayden Gray earned their spot at state with a fourth-place finish with 13 lbs. 11 oz. Steven Wilhelm and Tucker Travis finished eighth with 12 lbs. 15 oz. Also earning a spot in the state tournament was Hadlee Frizzell in the female division with 2 lbs. 6 oz.
The top 22 boys/coed teams and eight in the female division from the Region 1 Tournament qualified for the state tournament.
The state qualifiers will check in on Friday, May 9 and will fish on Saturday, May 10 and Sunday, May 11. Take off each day will begin at 6:30 a.m. with weigh in starting at 2:30.
