Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Arrest

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office arrested a McCracken County Man on drug and gun charges following a traffic stop Thursday evening.

On 05/16/2024 at approximately 530pm detectives stopped a vehicle for traffic infractions in the 1200 block of Mallory Street in Paducah. Upon contact with the driver of vehicle, 46-year-old Anthony Woods, detectives immediately noted the smell of Marijuana coming from the vehicle. During the roadside investigation detectives located over 700 grams of Marijuana, a digital scale, baggies, THC gummies, and a loaded 9mm handgun. Detectives also seized $1970 in US currency that is believed to be proceeds of illicit drug sales.

A criminal history check revealed that Mr. Woods was a convicted felon and unable to lawfully possess the handgun. Woods also had a prior conviction for firearm enhanced trafficking in Marijuana making this a 2nd or subsequent offense.

Woods was arrested and lodged in the McCracken County Regional.

Charges: Disregarding a stop sign, failure to or improper signal, firearm enhanced trafficking in Marijuana over eight ounces 2nd offense, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and possession of drug paraphernalia
