Marshall boys first, girls third at Saturday’s Invitational

Marshall County High School hosted 366 high school and middle school runners at the Marshall County Invitational cross country meet on Saturday. The race was shortened to 2500 meters from the typical 5000 meters to allow for the field to be split into smaller groups.

The Marshall County High School teams performed well with first going to the boys and second place for the girls. Rounding out the top three boys teams, Trigg County placed second and Graves County third. Graves County took the team win for the girls and Fort Campbell placed third.

Cade Flatt continued his run of consecutive first place finishes, stopping the clock in 7:57.28. Ethan McCarty crossed a few seconds back in 8:04.96 to continue their 1-2 finish for the third straight meet. Austin Cavanaugh of Trigg County took the third spot in 8:11.09.

More Marshall County results; Ilya O’Bryan 9:22.51 (27th), Sawyer Collins 9:30.64 (32nd), Jett Sealock 9:34.35 (35th), Walker Jones 9:38.60 (38th) and Jesse Jones 12:40.92 (97th)

The top results for the girl’s team came from Presley Jezik who finished third in 10:30.62. Ainsley Smith of Calloway County took the win in 9:56.77 and Kate Keller of Crittenden County was second in 10:24.14. Audra Fite finished in the top 10, taking ninth in 10:53.36. More results for the girls came from Gabbi Lovett 11:45.97 (18th), Leah Vincek 12:20.44 (24th), Ruthie Clark 12:29.05 (26th) and Elizabeth Barrett 13:08.79 (37th).

Marshall Middle School girls placed second behind first place Burns Middle School and Graves County Middle took third. Ava Falloway from Burns crossed in first with a time of 10:41.68, second place went to Marshall County’s Eden Sandlin with 10:49.46 and third to Graves County’s Rhaea Mathis in 11:02.21.

Two more top 10’s for the Marshall Middle girls came from Addison Lyles taking sixth (11:11.47) and Ann Marie Peffer ninth (11:28.89). Libby Gallagher finished 36th (13:03.33) and Landy Yates 45th (13:34.61).

Kobey Yates won the Middle School boys race, finishing in 8:52.91 and Daniel Walker was second in 9:50.22, to lead the Marshall County Middle team to third behind first place Graves County Middle and second place Henderson County Middle.

Rounding out the Marshall County Middle boys results; Isaac Darnell 11:00.14 (2nd), Dallas Sutherland 11:07.44 (28th), Maxon Mitchell 11:23.86 (35th), Levi Walker 11:50.21 (51st), Sam Martin 11:53.41 (54th), Kiefer Siress 11:53.92 (55th) and Grayson Ragsdale 12:04.11 (58th).
