Dr. William Richard (Bill) Wilson, life-long resident of Murray, passed away January 30, 2024, at the age of 77. He is survived by his wife, Kim, sons Bradford Wilson and wife Kelly of Murray, Richard Wilson and wife Amanda of Russellville, KY, step-daughter Addey Huish and husband A.J., New Concord, KY, step-son Patrick Griffo, Washington D.C., granddaughters Aliza Wilson and Katie Huish, grandsons Carter Wilson and Chandler Wilson, his brother, James Frank Wilson and wife Patricia of Oak Ridge, TN, along with nieces Dr. Melissa Wilson, Krista Wilson, Lindsay Wilson, and nephew James Ryan Wilson, his mother-in-law Sue McCoart of Murray, brothers-in-law Robert McCoart and wife Mary Beth of North Carolina, William McCoart and wife Julie, Paducah. He was preceded in death by his parents, J. B. and Ruth Wilson along with his first wife, Jan Jones Wilson (d. 2006).

Bill was born June 5, 1946, and graduated from Murray High School where he was listed among the Outstanding Young Men of America.   He received his bachelor’s degree from Murray State and earned his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Louisville. Following graduation, Bill returned to his hometown of Murray where he became a respected radiologist and was one of the founding members of Radiology Associates of Murray.  An influential member of the Murray Calloway County Hospital medical staff, Dr. Wilson served on the Medical Committee and the hospital’s Board of Trustees. Bill also served on the Executive Board of the Economic Development Corporation, and with the Chamber of Commerce.    He was a faithful member of First Methodist Church, a distinguished alumnus of Pi Kappa Alpha, and an active supporter of Murray State through his generosity to both academic and athletic programs. Bill was proud of his commission to the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels and was a lifetime member and sponsor of Ducks Unlimited.

A true renaissance man, Bill always shared his passion for music, art, good food, and travel with his family and friends. He loved his summers boating on Kentucky Lake, always with cherished entourage, most especially his grandchildren. Following retirement, Bill and Kim delighted in touring interesting places of the world along with his brother James Frank and sister-in-law Pat. He was also particularly fond of the many splendid adventures with his tried-and-true hunting companions that led him from the Plains of Africa to the bluffs of the Cumberland, the stories of which live on to this day.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 10, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church in Murray, Rev. Jeff Rudy and John Dale will officiate and burial will follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00p.m.-8:00 p.m., Friday, February 9, 2024, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services. An additional visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 10, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church.
