Lady Marshals top Crittenden County, fall to Caldwell County

In Thursday’s 10-4 win over Crittenden County, Chloe Coursey was 4-for-4 with a double and drove in three runs for the Lady Marshals.

In four games this past week, the Lady Marshals went 3-1 and improve to 17-9 overall and 3-0 in district play.

The week began with wins over Massac County and Calloway County. Thursday they picked up their fourth straight win 10-4 over Crittenden County (9-12) before the streak ended on Friday in a 4-2 loss to Caldwell County (13-11).

In the 10-4 win over Crittenden County, the Lady Marshals collected 16 hits led by Chloe Coursey who was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with a double and drove in three runs. Marin Oakley was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs while Trinlee Anderson was also perfect, going 3-for-3 with two RBIs.

The Lady Marshals plated runs in all but the seventh inning. Gracelyn Darnall earned the win over six innings of work, giving up nine hits, three earned of four runs and striking out one.

Hannah Jent hit a three-run homer for the Lady Rockets in the fifth inning.

Marin Oakley hit a double in the game against Caldwell County. The previous night against Crittenden County, Oakley went 3-for-4 with a double and drove in two runs.

In Friday’s 4-2 loss to Caldwell County, each team collected three hits while seven errors played a role for the Lady Marshals.

Caldwell’s three-run fourth inning was the lift needed when they scored runs on two errors and double from Harper Holeman to take a 4-1 lead.

A sacrifice by Allicen Harris scored the Lady Marshals first run in the fourth and the second run came in the seventh inning when Emma Reynolds crossed the plate during a double play by Caldwell County.
