Lady Marshals earn regular season district title

Peyton Lamb scored the Lady Marshals only goal and her first of the season, in Thursday’s 1-0 win at Calloway County.

Thursday’s 1-0 shutout over Calloway County gave the Lady Marshals the regular season Second District title and secured the number one seed in the district tournament. Carlen Whirley, who ranks first in the state in complete game shutouts, recorded her 30th career shutout and the 12th of the season for the Lady Marshals.

Peyton Lamb scored the only goal of the game with under five minutes remaining. For the game, the Lady Marshals took 31 shots, 18 of those on goal – the majority of those in the second half.

Two games remain of the regular season, Saturday at Owensboro Catholic and Tuesday at home against McCracken County. The district tournament begins the week of October 7th at Mayfield.
