Marshall County Free Clinic announces closing, auction to sell remaining equipment

freeclinicBENTON – The board of the Marshall County Free Clinic has announced that the clinic will be closing at the end of July. Due to reduced patient numbers and availability of health care insurance to more people, it was decided that “mission accomplished” and time to close. Clients that have not arranged for the transfer of their records can contact Amanda Orr at the Marshall County Health Department and receive instructions for the transfer.

“Obama care has run us out of business, and that is a good thing” stated Justin Lamb, chairman. “We feel that it would be economically unfeasible to try to keep the clinic open to serve such a small number of people. With a very few exceptions (less than 5) our clients have gained access to health care insurance. Thus it’s time to close the doors.”

The clinic will hold a silent auction on Monday, August 10 from 5:00 until 7:00 to sell remaining equipment and supplies. The doors will open at 4:00 for inspection and viewing of the merchandise. Everyone is invited to attend and participate in the auction. Cash and checks will be accepted but no charge or debit cards. The auction will be held at the Clinic located at 503 George McClain Drive, Suite C, Benton.

The staff, board and volunteers wish to express their gratitude to the community for the generous and sustained support over the years. Special thanks go to our churches for their generosity in contributing to the clinic.
