Lady Marshals win 7th straight Region 1 golf title

For the seventh straight year, the Marshall County Lady Marshals golf team is the Region 1 Champion. Wednesday at Paxton Park Golf Course, they won the title by 56 strokes with a team score of 310. Mayfield finished runner-up with a score of 367.

Two-time individual champion, Trinity Beth, led the Lady Marshals with 3-over par 74 and finished runner-up. Also scoring for the Lady Marshals was Skylar Waller with 77, CeCelia Ray shot 79, Brooklyn Cunningham finished with 80 and Katie Roberts shot 81.

McCracken County’s Sophie Hollowell shot a 2-under par 69 to win the individual title.

Marshall County and Mayfield will advance to Monday’s Sub-State tournament at Calvert City Country Club along with the next 10 individuals. Mayfield’s players advancing are Addison Sullivan (78), Avery Sullivan (85), Emily Waldrup (100) and Keely Henson (104).

The 10 individuals advancing are Sophie Hollowell 69 (McCracken County), Madison Glisson 75 (Ballard Memorial), Kate Abernathy 79 (Hickman County), Macy Saylor 81 (Murray), Emerson Vaughn 84 (Murray), McCall Moore 84 (Paducah Tilghman), Javen Campbell 90 (Calloway County), Lilly Perry 92 (Lyon County), Harper Hunt 93 (McCracken County), Emma Dowell 95 (Trigg County).

The Lady Marshals won the state title two consecutive years in 2021 and 2022 and finished runner-up last year. Beth is the reigning individual state champion.
