Calvert City Lions Club presents Humanitarian Service Awards

Jeremy Powell (left) and Carole Davis (right) receive awards for outstanding service from Calvert City Lions Club president Nancy Whitler.

The Finis E. Davis Fellowship has been created to honor the memory of Kentucky’s first and only President of Lions Clubs International. PIP Finis served as President in 1960-1961. Then in 1967-68 he was President of the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation. He spearheaded the drive to raise the first two million dollars to build the Kentucky Lions Eye Research Institute, which is now a world-class center, and dedicated his life to Lionism.

This year, the Calvert City Lions chose to honor two of our Lions club members for their outstanding service to our club, its activities and the community.  The first recipient of this award is Lion Jeremy Powell.  Jeremy is a relatively new member of this Lions Club and he has shown his willingness to serve and has become a valuable asset to our club.

The second recipient of this award is Lion Carole Davis. Lion Carole has been a member of the Calvert City Lions Club since 2018 and has been active in virtually all of our club’s projects, including KidSight, Ameribration Celebration, Christmas Parades and others too numerous to mention.  Both of these individuals represent the character and willingness to serve their communities and those less fortunate.  This is a symbolic of the Lions Clubs’ motto “We Serve.”
