Tennis celebrates Senior Night with win over Murray

Marshall County tennis celebrated Senior Night on Monday in a home match against Murray High. The girls’ team won 5-4 and the boy’s beat the Tigers 6-1.

Three wins in singles play for the girls came from JC Wells 8-2 over Macee Flores, Delaney Miller 8-3 over Malaika Gachoka and Campbell Hill 9-7 over Olivia Smee. Taylor Thomas, Emma Kate Whirley and Theresa Kother lost their singles matches.

In doubles, Wells and Miller defeated Gachoka and Avery Vanover 8-3. Whirley and Thomas defeated Flores and Riley Morris 8-2. Kother and Hill lost 4-8 to Smee and Kalyn Stockdale.

Lakyn Schroader and Chloe Anderson played exhibition matches.

Singles match wins for the boys came from Elston Evans 8-1 over Will Imes, Maverick Simmons 8-4 over Trevor Cunha, Eli Rudd 8-4 over Maddox Flores and Lincoln Colburn 8-0 over Chase Yeary. Hunter Odom lost 4-8 to Evan Bell.

The Marshals won both of their doubles matches. Odom and Simmons defeated Imes and Bell 8-6. Maddox Schroader and Colburn defeated Cunha and Chayse 8-3.

Chase Hill defeated Yeary 8-0 in an exhibition match.

Delaney Miller won her singles match 8-3 and doubles match with JC Wells 8-3 over Murray in Monday’s match.
Emma Kate Whirley lost her singles match but won 8-2 with doubles partner Taylor Thomas over Murray.
Lincoln Colburn won in singles 8-0 and 8-3 in doubles with partner Maddox Schroader.
JC Wells defeated her Murray opponents 8-2 in singles and 8-3 in doubles with partner Delaney Miller.
Maverick Simmons won 8-4 in singles and 8-6 in doubles with partner Hunter Odom in Monday’s match against Murray.
