William Russell Turnbow, age 92, of Bardwell, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, June 21, 2021 at his residence in Bardwell.
Russell was born in Greenfield, Tennessee on June, 12, 1929 to the late James and Nanny Sarah Reynolds Turnbow. He served his country in the United Sates Army and was a proud veteran of the Korean War, where he was a tank operator. One thing that he will be most remembered for was his unchanging faith and his love for music. Russell had the talent to pick up any instrument available and play it with great ease. He often traveled to Nashville where he would play music on the radio, and if you ever came to visit him you would have to sit down and listen to tapes that he had recorded on his karaoke machine.
Mr. Turnbow is survived by one daughter, Shawn Marie (Michael) Mead of Paducah, Kentucky; three sons, Roger Dale Turnbow of Water Valley, Kentucky, Mickey Maran (Heather) Turnbow of Bardwell, and Douglas Nathan (Diane) Turnbow of Paducah; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.
Mr. Turnbow was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Shirley Jean Jones Turnbow; one son, Michael Dale Turnbow; two sisters, Idell Thompson and Faye Edgin; one brother, James Turnbow; two grandchildren .
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell with Bro. Shane Davenport officiating. Burial with military honors, will follow at Burkley Cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell.
