Gas prices on the rise in the Lakes Area

Average retail gasoline prices in Kentucky have risen 17.5 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $1.95 gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy.

This compares with the national average that has increased 11.9 cents per gallon in the last week to $1.93 a gallon.

Prices in the Lakes Area are ranging from $1.74 to $1.99 a gallon, and rising.

Including the change in gas prices in Kentucky during the past week, prices yesterday were 33.2 cents per gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 40.8 cents per gallon higher than a month ago.

The national average has increased 23.9 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 50.2 cents per gallon lower than this day one year ago.

According to GasBuddy historical data, gasoline prices on March 14 in Kentucky have ranged widely over the last five years: $2.29/g in 2015, $3.55/g in 2014, $3.67/g in 2013, $3.73/g in 2012 and $3.52/g in 2011.
