A bank text scam often looks like a legitimate text message from a financial institution. Criminals may send you a text that looks like a bank warning or fraud alert. It might claim that an unauthorized charge has been made on your account or ask you if you attempted to charge a certain amount at a particular retailer.
Here is a local example…keep in mind it could be from ANY bank though, not just FNB.

Scam Alert – We have a report of a customer receiving a fraudulent phone call/voicemail from someone impersonating FNB Bank Security, stating that the customer’s debit card was locked for security reasons. The message then asked her to call 866-454-0742 (a fraudulent phone number) to verify her account and have it unlocked.
As a reminder, FNB (or any other bank) will never initiate communication with you (via phone call, text message, e-mail, etc.) and ask you for your personal information, such as your Social Security #, PIN #, Debit Card #, Passwords, etc. If you receive a message/phone call from your “bank”, hang up and call your bank back on their local number. Report the incident to your bank and if you did give out any personal information to the scammer, be sure to report that as well.
