Marshall County’s Lady Marshals improved to 16-8 and 3-0 in the Fourth District after Tuesday’s 6-0 win over Calloway County, earning the district sweep over the Lady Lakers after beating them 8-5 in Murray last week. Calloway County falls to 6-9 and 1-2 in district play.
Allicen Harris got the job done from the circle, striking out seven while giving up four hits in the shutout. Marin Oakley went 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs and Macy McLeod was 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI.
The Lady Marshals took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Trinlee Anderson reached on an error and advanced to third on McLeod’s double. Oakley’s single plated both Anderson and McLeod and the third run came in on a single by Chloe Coursey.
Chevelle Henson led off the bottom of the fourth with a double and scored the first of another three runs on a ground ball hit by Trinlee Anderson. With two outs on the board, the Lady Marshals added two more runs on McLeod’s second double of the game and she rounded the bases to score on a single hit by Madyson Morton for a 6-0 lead and final score of the game.
On Monday, the Lady Marshals beat Massac County 3-1. At the plate, Coursey was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI, Harris hit a home run and Darnall had one hit to wrap up their win on four hits. Harris pitched the first three innings and Lilly Hayden in relief earned the win, giving up three hits, one run and struck out six.
Up next, the Lady Marshals will play Crittenden County (9-11) at home on Thursday at 5:30.
