Mrs. Thelma Hornbuckle-Bowers, 85, born March 1, 1938, in Murray- Calloway County, passed away after a year-long illness at the AHC Rehabilitation facility in Paris, TN.
Mrs. Hornbuckle-Bowers was a retired nurse with the Calloway County Jail. She was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church in Puryear, TN, where she served as a youth Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and The Lions Club.
Mrs. Hornbuckle-Bowers was preceded in death by her parents: Mr. John Henry Hornbuckle Sr. and Mrs. Frocie Hornbuckle, her son: Alvin Parham, her sisters: Charlene Marie Hornbuckle, Mary Louise Johnson, her brothers: Rev. Henry William Hornbuckle Sr. and John Henry Hornbuckle Jr., and her niece: Mary C. Hornbuckle.
Mrs. Hornbuckle-Bowers is survived by her daughter, Althia Parham- Caldwell of Murray, KY and son James Anthony Parham (Shona) of Clarksville, TN, her husband John Melvin Bowers of Murray, KY, her brothers, Thomas Hornbuckle Sr. (LillieAnn) and James Hornbuckle Sr., her grandchildren, Brian C. Caldwell, Tiffany M. Parham, and Sterling X. Parham, and a host of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service honoring the life of Mrs. Thelma Hornbuckle-Bowers is set for 2 pm on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at the Heritage Chapel of Imes Funeral Home. Rev. Thomas Taylor will officiate.
Her family welcomes visitors from 1- 2 pm on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at the Heritage Chapel.
The family would like to acknowledge her niece, Jacqueline Renee Hornbuckle for the special care she provided her aunt during the last two years. It was greatly appreciated, and there are not enough words to express our gratitude.
