Susanna French elected to the board for Emerge KY

Louisville, Ky. — Congratulations to Emerge Kentucky’s 2020 Board Leadership Team As we approach the new year, the Board of Emerge is gearing up to train more Democratic women than ever before and send them on a path to victory. Join us in welcoming the new leadership team. Susanna French Marshall Co., Chair Caitlin Blair Jefferson Co., Vice Chair Carole Register Boone Co., Secretary Sheila Hill Boone Co., Treasurer Jennifer A. Moore Jefferson Co., Immediate Past Chair and Chair Emerita Susanna French, Chair The new board chair, Susanna French, hails from western Kentucky and has served on the board since 2012 and as Vice Chair for the past six years. She recently completed a two-year term as President of the National Federation of Democratic Women and currently serves as the chair of the Marshall County Democratic Party and on the board of the Kentucky Democratic Party. “Susanna’s dedication to Emerge over the past seven years, coupled with her national leadership for Democratic Woman’s Clubs, makes her the perfect fit to chair Emerge Kentucky’s board and continue our work creating more opportunities for women to lead,” states Jennifer A. Moore, Founder and Chair Emerita. Caitlin Blair, Vice Chair For the past 6 years, Caitlin has masterfully served as treasurer of Emerge and given countless hours to the organization. As an alumnae of the program and a strong leader of the labor movement, Caitlin brings a unique perspective to Emerge leadership and will ensure that the voices of alumnae and labor are always heard and welcomed.

Carole Register, Secretary Carole Register joins the leadership team after serving as a board member for the past 8 years and the chair of the Fundraising Committee. Carole also volunteers as the Boone County Democratic Party Chair and has her pulse on local Democratic party politics through her local party and also as a member of the Kentucky Democratic Party State Central Executive Committee. Sheila Hill, Treasurer Sheila is a 2018 class alumnae and began serving on the board upon completing the Emerge KY training program. Sheila servers on the Boone County Democratic Executive Board and is the President and Founder of Sassy Frassy, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to making a difference in the lives of young people, Sheila is a management executive with more than 30 years of expertise in healthcare operations. Jennifer A. Moore, Immediate Past Chair and Chair Emerita Jennifer A. Moore founded Emerge Kentucky in 2009 after serving as the Chair of the Kentucky Democratic Party. Under her leadership the organization has grown to a powerful network of women from across the Commonwealth who are trained and ready to run for public office. Thanks to Jennifer’s leadership over the past 10 years Emerge has experienced tremendous success. During her tenure, Emerge has trained over 220 women from across the Commonwealth, with 36 alumnae currently serving in office including seven State House wins, and the recent statewide-win of Lt. Governor Jacqueline Coleman. “Since founding Emerge Kentucky 10 years ago, it has been my honor and privilege to serve this organization. I am excited about our new leadership team and have no doubt that Emerge is here to stay to train the next generations of women leaders. I look forward to seeing where the next decade takes this instrumental program.” said Jennifer A. Moore. “Emerge Kentucky cannot thank Jennifer enough for her years of service, dedication, and passion to the organization. Jennifer is a champion for women and has truly changed the face of Kentucky politics. And, she has promised she is not going anywhere. Jennifer will continue to train Democratic women and volunteer her time as Immediate Past Chair as part of our leadership team. I am proud to also announce that the Board unanimously voted to declare her the permanent Chair Emerita,” proclaimed new chair, Susanna French.
