Marshals down Fort Campbell 9-3, improve record to 6-1

DRAFFENVILLE – Marshall County beat Fort Campbell 9-3 Thursday at Colburn Stadium to extend their record to 6-1 ahead of three games this weekend in Hopkinsville’s Boots and Butts Tournament and two big games next week against Murray and Hopkinsville.

“We’ll find out a lot about ourselves in this next week”, Assistant Coach Donnie Heath said. “We’ll test our depth, we’ll text our skill and test our fitness. This is a part of the season you find out who you are as a team and really, who you are as a player and so far we’ve risen up to the challenge.”

Thursday’s scoring against Fort Campbell began with a goal by Seth Strader on an assist by Caleb McNeely. Dawson Jolley made it a 2-0 game followed by a goal from Isaac Steele on an assist from Keegan McKenty. Jolley with his second goal gave the Marshals a 4-0 lead, McNeely scored for a 5-0 lead and then Jolley finished out the half with a hat trick to put the Marshals up 6-0. Fort Campbell got on the board on a goal by Gianfranco Parodi to end the first half down 6-1.

The Marshals added three more goals in the second half by Drake Anderson, assisted by Strader, Austin Stockdale and Skyler Sharp. Fort Campbell added two second half goals by Jackson Sewell to make it a 7-2 game and the final goal of the game by first half keeper Ripken Stork.

The Marshals had 26 shots in the game, 20 on goal and 8 corners.
