Lady Marshals win second straight 4th District title

Marshall County celebrates their 4th District title after beating Calloway County 2-0 in Tuesday’s championship.

Two runs in the bottom of the first inning were enough for Marshall County to hold off Calloway County and win their second straight 4th District title on Tuesday. The Lady Lakers advanced to the championship against the #1 seed Lady Marshals after Monday’s 8-1 win over Murray.

The first inning runs were set up by Madyson Morton taking base after she was hit by a pitch and Marin Oakley hit a single. Morton and Oakley advanced bases on a wild pitch and scored on a single hit to right field by Allicen Harris.

The Lady Marshals put baserunners on in the bottom of the second on a single by Merriel Jackson. Chevelle Henson reached on a single in the fourth and Macy McLeod led off with a single in the fifth.

Allicen Harris earned the win over seven innings, striking out 13, walking one and giving up three hits. Hailee Jones also pitched well for the Lady Lakers, striking out nine over six innings, giving up five hits and two runs.

The Region 1 Tournament will get underway on Monday at Calloway County.
