Marshall County Sheriff’s Report – June 19

sheriffOn Wednesday June 17th Deputy Jason Lane observed a vehicle run a red light at the 5th St. and Main intersection in Benton. Deputy Lane then continued to conduct a traffic stop. Upon contact the driver stated he did not have a drivers license. Deputy Lane observed a strong smell of alcohol present on the subject. The subject admitted to consuming alcohol 10 minutes prior to driving. The subject was very cooperative with Deputy Lane. Victor P. Brown 31, of Benton, was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, Disregarding Traffic Control Device and No Operators License.

On Thursday June 18th Deputy Nathan Maxlow observed a vehicle driving in a careless, suspicious manner on US 641 S. Upon contact Deputy Maxlow asked for consent to search the vehicle and located a bag of marijuana under the seat and drug paraphernalia under the far right passenger’s feet. The subject advised they had purchased the marijuana and after the purchase they handed a larger bag of marijuana to a juvenile passenger. When the subjects in the car realized they were being stopped they hid two more bags of marijuana under the passenger seat. Nathaniel J. Green 18 and Richard A. Jackson 18 both of Benton were charged with Trafficking in Marijuana (Less than 8 oz), Possession of Marijuana, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Transaction with a Minor 2nd Degree. The juvenile in the vehicle was released to a parent with pending charges.
