drugarrest-marijuanaBENTON – A traffic stop by Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputy Nathan Maxlow on Thursday led to numerous drug charges for a pair of Benton teens.

Deputy Maxlow observed the vehicle driving in a careless manner on US 641 S and upon contact, asked for consent to search the vehicle. A bag of marijuana was found under the seat along with drug paraphernalia under the far right passenger’s feet.

According to police, 18-year-old Nathaniel J. Green said he and 18-year-old Richard A. Jackson had purchased the marijuana and handed a larger bag of marijuana to a juvenile passenger. When Green and Jackson realized they were being stopped, they reportedly hid two more bags of marijuana under the passenger seat.

Green and Jackson, both of Benton, were charged with Trafficking in Marijuana (Less than 8 oz), Possession of Marijuana, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Transaction with a Minor 2nd Degree.

The juvenile passenger in the vehicle was released to a parent with charges pending.
