Jaco advances to KHSAA State Tennis Tournament

Hayden Jaco is the Region 1 Tournament singles runner-up and will play in the KHSAA State Tennis Tournament in Lexington May 17-19.

Marshall County senior tennis player, Hayden Jaco, advanced to the Region I singles championship game Wednesday against Paducah Tilghman’s Matthew Jones. Jaco had already secured his spot in the KHSAA State Tennis Tournament when he advanced to the semi-finals after defeating Addicus Hughes of CCA 6-1, 6-0 on Saturday and James Luke McGee of Tilghman on Monday in the quarter-finals 6-1, 6-0.

In the semi-final round, Jaco defeated Ty Crabtree of McCracken County 6-3, 6-1 to advance to the finals against Jones. Jaco lost to Jones 6-2, 6-4 following a 2-hour competitive match. With a record of 18-3, he will head to Lexington’s UK Hilary J. Boone/Downing Tennis Complex for the state tournament May 17-19.

The Marshall County team finished the regular season with the best record in program history. The boys finished 16-2 and the girls 14-4.
