Gerald Jarvis, age 85, of Symsonia, Kentucky passed away at 9:27 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2024, at Mercy Health Lourdes. Gerald was born on May 16, 1938, to Cletus and Irene Babb Jarvis.
Gerald was a 1956 graduate of Lone Oak High School where he was selected as “Mr Witty” by his classmates. He was a self-employed home builder and supervisor of many home constructions. Gerald was an avid NASCAR fan when Tony Stewart was racing. Everyone will always remember the stories that he would tell about Lone Oak; the people he knew and how Lone Oak used to look in the old days. Gerald was a lifetime member of Lone Oak First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Sherry Rudd Jarvis; one son, Eddie Jarvis of Concord, North Carolina; and three daughters,. Sandy (Rod) Reed, Mayfield, Kentucky, Terri Lynn (Kevin) Anderson, Symsonia, Kentucky and Kim (Kevin) Gass, Ledbetter, Kentucky; one brother, Larry (Roxie) Jarvis, Paducah, Kentucky; former daughter-in-law, Dana Jarvis; ten grandchildren, Shannon (Ryan) Norman, Stacey (Chris) Scheer, Heather Catilla, Trent Catilla, Chase Jarvis, Carson Reed, Devan Reed, Brandon Anderson. Jarron Anderson and Keith Wilson; eight great-grandchildren, Taylor, Ethan, Matthew, Izzy, Abby, Landon, Ava and Oliver as well as several nieces and nephews.
Preceding in death were his parents; one daughter, Marsha Catilla; two sons, Tim Jarvis and Darron Howard; one sister, Jeanette Jarvis Parker; and one great-granddaughter, Jennifer Catilla.
Visitation for Gerald Jarvis will be Wednesday, March 6, 2024, from 5:00-8:00 pm at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Dr. Scott Thomas and Rev. Bob Martin officiating, and burial will follow at Mt. Kenton Cemetery.
