Temporary Detour for I-24 Westbound Traffic at U.S. 62 Calvert City Exit 27 on Tuesday Morning, Feb 23

PADUCAH, KY (Feb. 22, 2021)  The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans a temporary detour for westbound traffic on Interstate 24 at milepiont 26.565 on Tuesday morning, February 23, 2021.

This temporary westbound detour on I-24 is to allow Kentucky State Police to conduct a crash reconstruction investigation on the U.S. 62 Calvert City Exit 27 westbound overpass.

This temporary detour is expected to be in place from approximately 7 a.m., CST, to about 10 a.m., Tuesday.

KYTC personnel will provide work zone signage to assist with the temporary detour along the Exit 27 westbound ramps.  Westbound traffic will take the Exit 27 westbound exit ramp to the stop sign at U.S. 62, then cross U.S. 62 to return to I-24 via the Exit 27 westbound entry ramp.

Motorists should be aware that some traffic backups may occur for westbound I-24 traffic during the temporary detour.   Appropriate caution is required.

Motorists traveling U.S. 62 should be alert for heavy traffic at the westbound exit and entry ramps on the west side of the Exit 27 Interchange.

There should be no impact on eastbound I-24 traffic at the site.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and Kentucky State Police will attempt to provide timely notice should the crash reconstruction investigation be completed earlier than expected.
