Bobbie Jean Higgins, age 83, of Benton, KY, passed away on Monday, December 14, 2020 at her home with her daughter and son-in-law by her side.
She was born in Marshall County on May 26, 1937 to her late parents, Onnie “Doc” Gipson and Lillian Divine Gipson. She retired from the Kentucky Department of Community Based Services after 36 years of service. Bobbie Jean was of the Baptist faith and loved working in her yard, tending to her garden of knock out roses, and fishing.
Bobbie Jean is survived by her daughter, Kathy Chance (Michael) of Benton; sister, Patricia Thompson of Marshall County; brother, Kenneth Gipson (Sue) of Grand Rivers; two grandchildren, Craig Thomas Clark (Kaitlyn), William Michael Chance (Molly); four great-grandchildren, Garrett Thomas Clark, Finley Kay Clark, Isla Jean Clark, Neecy May Chance; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mayhew Higgins; son, Louis Allen Darnall; four sisters, Cathrine Mathis, Rebecca Louise Owens, Mamie Jo South, Jimmie Sue Chance; four brothers, Carl Woodrow Gipson, Paul Gipson, Rudell Gipson, Harold Gipson.
No services are scheduled at this time. Filbeck-Cann Funeral Home of Milner and Orr is in charge of arrangements.
