John Davis, 93

John William “Bill” Davis, 93, of Bardwell, passed away Friday, August 28,2020, at Countryside Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing.

Bill was born in Detroit, Michigan, on May 17, 1927 to William and Era (Byassee) Davis. He graduated from Clinton High School, then went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Bill worked as a bookkeeper at Wayne State University and Flegle’s in Bardwell for over 50 years.

He was of the Christian faith and loved to worship the Lord at the Meeting Room near Columbus, KY. Bill had a servant’s heart and enjoyed participating in missionary work, including trips to Mexico.

He is survived by his three daughters, Lorena Davis of Bardwell, Ruth Davis of Bardwell, and Marie Aldrich (David) of Conway, Arkansas; 3 grandchildren, Jonathan Aldrich, Rachel Aldrich, and Daniel Aldrich; one honorary daughter, Carmen Lashley (Terry) of Weslaco, TX; as well as several honorary grandchildren, including, Ronnie Canary, Amanda Mayfield, Leonard Canary, Jordan Reynolds, and many more.

Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Laura (Rupp) Davis, and his parents.

A visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until 1:30 PM on Thursday, September 3, 2020 and Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell.

A graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at Zook Cemetery in Clinton with Paul Roorda III officiating.
