Jean Hardesty, 86

Jean Borum Hardesty, age 86, of Kuttawa, KY passed away Sunday, June 21, 2020 at her home. She was a member of Kuttawa United Methodist Church and was a founding member of American Legion Post 68 Auxillary. She was a retired Information Specialist with the Department of Housing & Urban Development.

She graduated as Valedictorian on Slaughters High School class of 1952 and attended Lockyear’s Business College in Evansville, IN, Strayers Business College in Washington, DC, George Washington University, Washington, DC, and University of Virginia, Arlington, VA. Her career included Office of the Secretary of Defense, Office of Public Affairs at the Pentagon from 1957-1971 and Department of Housing and Urban Development, Correspondence Section, Office of the Secretary and Office of Public Affairs from 1971-1984.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, William H. Hardesty, Kuttawa, KY; one sister, Nettie Luck & husband, Roy Lee, Corydon, KY; two brothers, Jerry Martin Borum & wife, Mildred, LaGrange IN and Cecil Edward Borum & wife, Donna, Sebree, KY and several nieces and nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, James Orville Borum and Viola Gertrude Dame Borum, one sister, Brenda Kay Borum and five brothers, Eddie Gaylen Borum, James Lee Borum, Paul Wayne Borum, Dorris Allen Borum and Carroll Wayne Borum.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 27, 2020 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Lakeland Funeral Home in Eddyville, KY. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Chuck Ladd and Rev. Jim Keagen officiating. Burial will follow in Onton Cemetery in Onton, KY at 4:00 pm.
