Class of 2020 – Sydney Temple

Sydney Temple competed in track and field all four years at Marshall County High School. She is currently the #2 ranked pole vaulter in school history and sits just one inch behind the school record. Sydney has consistently ranked in the top 10 in the state throughout most of her high school  vaulting career.

Head Coach Cory Westerfield said, “It’s heartbreaking that she won’t be able to go for that record this year”.

Sydney placed 10th at last year’s KHSAA State Track and Field Championships with a vault of 9-06, was 1st Region runner-up and selected to the All-Area 1 First Team and Class 3A First Team. She  qualified for the state meet three straight years. As a sophomore she finished 10th and as a freshman she placed 14th.

She has also competed consistently in the triple jump throughout her track and field career. Sydney is leaning towards continuing her vaulting career at Freed-Hardeman in the fall.
