Marshals finish third at Gator Invitational in Bowling Green

In their third consecutive tournament to start the 2019 season, the Marshals came in with a team score under 300, this time at Bowling Green Country Club where they took third with a score of 299 in the Gator Invitational.

“A huge step was taken today with our golf team…shooting under 300 at Bowling Green Country Club was great accomplishment”, Coach Keith Bell said. “Very proud of these players to be performing as well as they have early in the season.”

A career low round of 71 shot by Camdyn McLeod led the Marshals while Jay Nimmo and Tyler Powell finished with 74’s. Trey Wall finished with a round of 80 and Preston Futrell, on the Bowling Green course for the first time, shot 89.

St. Xavier took the win among the field of 24 teams with 290 followed by Taylor County, defending state champions, in second with a team score of 295.

Medalist honors went to Madisonville North-Hopkins player Jackson Hill (70) in a three-way playoff on hole #10. Drew Doyle of St. Xavier and Luke Coyle of Taylor County finished tied for second with a score of 70. Marshall County’s Camdyn McLeod finished fifth in a scorecard playoff with St. Xavier’s Robbie Bender taking fourth.

The Marshals will tee it up on Wednesday in the Kentucky Cup at the University Club of Kentucky Wildcat course.
