Sue Costello, 98

Mrs. Sue Farmer Costello, age 98, of Murray, Kentucky, died peacefully on Friday, April 26, 2019 at Lakeway Nursing and Rehab in Benton, Kentucky. She was born on December 24th, 1920 in Murray, Kentucky to the late John C. Farmer and Carter Lee Whitnell Farmer, also of Murray, Kentucky. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Costello; daughter, Sue Ellen Costello; brothers, J. Buddy Farmer (Peggy), Robert Bob Farmer (Lou), and Mansfield Farmer (Shelia).

Along with her husband, “Charlie” Costello, Sue was the co-founder of the well-known Sue & Charlie’s restaurant of Aurora, Kentucky from 1949 until their retirement in 1979. Sue was a member of the Murray Woman’s Club and past President of the Rose Club. As a charter member of the Murray Calloway County Country Club along with her husband, she was instrumental in the formation of the women’s golf league. She graduated Murray High School and attended Murray State University where she studied nursing. Sue was a life time member of the First United Methodist Church and Women’s Ministry.

Survivors include one daughter, Sandy Costello of West Palm Beach, Florida; one son, Vincent Costello (Christine) of Murray, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Buff Ellen Sanchez-Garcia (Antonio) of Jupiter, Florida, Brianna Fergerson (Joe) of Murray, Kentucky and Logan Charles Costello of Murray, Kentucky; great-grandchildren, Arabella Sanchez-Garcia and Sterling Sanchez-Garcia both of Jupiter, Florida and Keaton Costello of Murray, Kentucky; and one sister Jeanette Giles (Huz) of Fulton, Kentucky.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the J H Churchill Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Murray City Cemetery.
