Tanner English has a new ride in 2019 driving the Stone-Weaver Racing’s No. 116 dirt late model for the upcoming racing season and kicked it off in Phenix City, Ala. at the East Alabama Motor Speedway last weekend. English finished second on Saturday giving him a second row start on Sunday for the 44th National 100, a race that was scheduled for last November but rained out.

A bumper to bumper exciting final few laps between English and polesitter Jason Hiett of Oxford, Ala., was stalled out on the fourth caution flag of the race shortened from 100 to 50 laps, with just three laps to go on lap 47. It was all that Hiett needed, who was just in front of English at the caution, to edge him out in the final three laps to win the $6,000 purse.

English will race the February Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at both Golden Isles Speedway near Brunswick, Ga., and East Bay Raceway Park in Gibsonton, Fla.
