The Lady Marshals held a slight edge throughout most of the set, getting good serves by Halle Langhi near the end of the set to win 25-19.

The Lady Eagles turned the tables in set two with a 5-0 start, holding a five point lead at 8-3 before four straight points by the Lady Marshals fueled by Hicks play at the net to pull to within two points. CFS carried their second set momentum into the third set, leading from start to finish to win 25-11 and take a 2-1 lead behind their triple threat at the net of Cima, Fletcher and Wagner. Marshall County trailed in set four until down 16-13, scored six straight points to lead 19-16 and held on to tie the match 2-2 with a 25-18 set four win.

Marshall County led from start to finish in set five to win 15-10, finishing it off with a kill by Langhi for the match point and 3-2 victory.

“We’ve got to learn to not have such a big drastic change in our level of play”, Langhi said of his still somewhat young team on their third set let down. Langhi said their youth is no excuse but he was happy with their resilience coming back in the fourth and fifth sets to win.

Hicks had 15 digs, 14 kills and seven aces for the Lady Marshals. Mckenzie Elkins led in digs with 18, Langhi had 14 and Ashley Bremmerkamp 11. Langhi led the team in kills with 16 and Clara Bradley had 29 assists. The Lady Marshals improve to 6-4 and picked up their second district win following Tuesday’s 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-17) win over Calloway County. The Lady Eagles record stands at 1-2 with a win over CCA and a loss to Paducah Tilghman.
