WKRECC outage numbers drop below 600

(Mayfield, Ky.) June 29, 2018 (11:00 a.m.) – At 11:00 a.m., fewer than 600 West Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperative members were without power, down from a high of 6,700 members who were in the dark at 9 p.m. Thursday.

However, there are still 60 separate outages in the service area and each one poses its own repair challenge, cautioned WKRECC President & CEO David Smart. “We have made great progress, but it will take several more hours to complete all the repairs,” he said.

Additional line crews are enroute from other Kentucky electric cooperatives that sustained less damage during the severe storms that swept through the area last night. They will provide additional manpower until repairs are complete.

“We appreciate our members’ patience and the many expressions of support we’ve received during this extended outage,” Smart said. “Please know that we are doing everything possible to safely restore their electric service.”
