Lady Eagles fall to St. Mary, get win over UHA

Christian Fellowship Lady Eagles move to 4-4 following a loss Monday to St. Mary and win on Tuesday over University Heights. They play at Paducah Tilghman tonight before Saturday’s KCAC Tournament at Lovett Park in Benton. The Lady Eagles are scheduled to play at 10:00 am against Portland Christian and 1:00 against Covington Latin.

Monday against St. Mary, the Lady Eagles fell behind 6-0 in the first inning and struggled to get anything going offensively. St. Mary added five more runs in the sixth inning for an 11-0 win in six innings on 13 hits. This was the only shut-out loss for the Lady Eagles through the first eight games of the season. CFS had three hits in the game from Renee Shields, Rachel Howard and Emma Fletcher.

Trailing University Heights 8-3 in the bottom of the third, CFS scored 10 runs then added another 10 in the fourth to close out the game with a 23-8 win in four innings on 12 hits.

Those 20 runs came on a 2-run double by Jaycie Jackson, 2-run double by Edie Little, single by Howard, six bases loaded walks, four batters hit by pitches, two wild pitches, steal of home plate and an error.

Leading hitters were Little 4 for 4 with two doubles and five RBI’s and Jackson 3 for 4 with a double and three RBI’s. Ortt got the win in four innings on the mound, allowing eight runs and 12 hits.
