Sheriff’s Office warns of another phone scam in Marshall County

Marshall County Sheriff’s Department is advising residents of another phone scam circulating the area.

According to MCSD, the office has received information that a caller is phoning residents and identifying themselves as the “Trooper and Police Educational Association.” The call, deputies say, is a scam.

MCSD says it can find no information that any such organization exists.

Callers are reportedly pushing for donations under the guise that they purchase safety equipment such as vests and provide training for local police officers. That claim, according to MCSD, is false.

“Our vests are paid for by grants from the office of homeland security and your county tax dollars, as is training,” MCSD stated in a release on its social media account. “… Please be aware that law enforcement will not call you asking for money. Please do not give your personal information to anyone that calls you unsolicited.”

The call comes from a Louisville phone number, according to MCSD.
