Sharpe Elementary Students to Hold Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Remodeled Classroom

A ribbon cutting ceremony for the Sharpe Elementary 4th Grade outdoor environmental classroom is scheduled for Monday, May 9th, at the entrance to the classroom, at 10:45 a.m. Students will lead the ceremony and speak briefly about the project and what it means to them, as well as guide guests on a trail that highlights the various learning opportunities for those using the classroom.

The Sharpe Elementary 4th Grade began the project of renovating the environmental classroom after years of neglect, beginning with damage that occurred during the 2009 ice storm.  The environmental classroom has been in existence for approximately 20 years.   Students decided this year they wanted to clean the classroom where all students could enjoy the outdoor learning environment.  After several weeks of work, the students decided they wanted to have a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the reopening of the environmental classroom.

The founding teacher for the project was Teri Lampkins.  The current classroom teacher is Shannon Hamlet.  For more information, please contact Shannon Hamlet at shannon.hamlet@marshall.kyschools.us.
