Cypret leads Christian Fellowship scoring going into final matches of golf season

DRAFFENVILLE – Just over the halfway point in their season, the Christian Fellowship School golf team continues to play consistent golf despite not fielding a full team of four at many matches to be competitive in team competitions.

Gavin Cypret leads the boy’s team in most matches with the low score for CFS, posting his best score of 46 on August 10th at the Dogwood Hills Golf Course in their second match of the season. CFS lost 186-226 to Carlisle County that day and joining Cypret in the team score was Elijah Toth (53), Logan Draffen (63) and Jordan Vaughn (64).

The Eagles have posted a 225 team score three times so far this season for a team low, on August 11 at Princeton Country Club, August 18th at Oak Hill Golf Course and on August 20th at Pennyrile State Park.

Toth posted his best 9-hole score of 46  for the Eagles to date at Pennyrile joined by Cypret (52), Vaughn (63) and Draffen (64). Dawson Springs took the win 202-225 over CFS.

On August 11th at Princeton, the Eagles team score of 225 came from Cypret (49), Toth (56), Draffen (59) and Vaughn (61). The third 225 of the season coming at Oak Hill was made up of scores from Cypret (48), Toth (53), Draffen (56) and Vaughn (68).

Joining the boys at most matches, Amber Shelley and Maddie Ortt, are the only two CFS girls on the team this season. Ortt’s low round of the season so far came on August 24th at Marion Country Club where she shot 40 while Shelley’s low of 49 came on August 13th at Mayfield.

The Eagles played in a match at Calvert City Country Club Thursday after a 10 day break from competition with scoring coming from Cypret (52), Draffen (61) and Toth (62). The team will play on Saturday in Florence, Ky. in the KCAC Tournament at Heritage.
