BENTON – Marshall County has a new Circuit Clerk after Tiffany Griffith took her oath of office yesterday.

Griffith said she has been in the office as a deputy clerk since June 2005. Her predecessor, Carla Marshall retired due to health problems.

“I am both humbled and honored to have been appointed Marshall County Circuit Clerk,” Griffith said. “For the past 10 years, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in the Clerk’s Office and look forward to this new endeavor. I am grateful for the opportunity Carla Marshall gave me when she appointed me her chief deputy clerk, and am also thankful for the confidence Judge Rob Mattingly showed in me by appointing me to this office. Lastly, I’d like to formally announce that I will be a candidate for this office in the election next year and will be filing the necessary paperwork as soon as it is allowed..”

Griffith said the office would appear as business as usual to the public with no major changes.

“We’re not expecting any new hires off the bat. We’ll be open the same hours. I will have the same duty as Criminal Circuit Court Clerk under Judge (Dennis) Foust, but that will change soon,” Griffith said.

Foust is retiring this year, and a new judge for his seat on the bench will be determined in November’s election.
