Carnine places 5th in the region, boy’s team qualifies for state

OWENSBORO – With their 5th place finish in the 1st Region, Class 3A meet at Yellow Creek Park in Owensboro last Saturday, the Marshall County boy’s cross country team is heading to state. The team was paced by Jacob Carnine with a 5th place finish in a time of 17:00.82. Graves County’s Marcos Macias captured the 1st Region 3A title crossing the line in 16:30.20.
Following Carnine’s 5th place finish, six other Marshals completed the course with a 27th place finish by Joseph Reed (18:09.35), Jackson Reed- 32nd (18:22.36), Tieler Hamlet- 38th (18:35.23), Austin Shackleford- 41st (18:41.90), Jackson Yates- 52nd (19:21.18) and Matt Ray- 58th (20:15.83.

Daviess County took 1st followed by Madisonville North Hopkins 2nd, Apollo 3rd, Muhlenberg County 4th, Marshall County 5th, McCracken County 6th, Graves County 7th, Henderson County 8th, Owensboro 9th and Hopkinsville 10th.

Daviess County’s Breanna Alderton took 1st in the girl’s race in 19:20.33. Daviess County took five of the top six spots in the girl’s 5,000 meter race, sealing the overall win for the team.
Spring Dolbee led the Marshall County girls with a 24th place finish in 21:11.29, Vanessa Smith- 33rd (21:49.25), Rachel Northcutt- 35th (21:54.04), Hadley Pagel- 40th (22:35.85), Jade Ford- 42nd (22:46.16), Haley Ford- 57th (26:21.25) and Valerie Schutt- 62nd (26:51.63).

Behind Daviess County’s 1st place team finish was Graves County 2nd, McCracken County 3rd, Owensboro 4th, Muhlenberg County 5th, Marshall County 6th, Madisonville North Hopkins 7th and Apollo 8th.

The KHSAA State Cross Country Meet will be held Saturday, November 8th at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. The Marshals will go off in the Class 3A field at 2:15 (EST).
