
Marshall County improves to 2-2 with Friday’s 45-0 shutout over Calloway County. Big plays made up much of the Marshals scoring and the big play maker of the night was senior Cash Henson. Henson scored four touchdowns on a punt return, two interceptions and a reception.
With the first possession of the game, the Marshals drive was short-lived and following the punt, Calloway County was set up at mid field. Two big gains by the Lakers were wiped out on holding penalties and they were forced to punt on fourth and 24.
Henson ran the punt back for a touchdown and with the extra point attempt by Tommy Robertson, the Marshals led 7-0 at 3:38 in the first quarter.
Facing third and 10 on their next possession, Calloway County quarterback Carter Tudor’s throw was picked off by Henson near midfield and he ran it in for his second touchdown. Robertson tacked on the extra point for a 14-0 lead with 1:32 left in the quarter.
Calloway County punted to start the second quarter and it set the Marshals up at mid field. They would opt for a 21-yard field goal by Robertson to take a 17-0 lead.

On the Lakers next possession, Luke Webber intercepted a Tudor pass which set up a 30-yard touchdown pass from Neyland Jezik to Toren Redmond and a 24-0 lead with 58 seconds remaining in the half.
With seconds on the clock, the Lakers go for the downfield bomb which backfires and resulted in another pick by Henson who ran it all the way back for a touchdown and the halftime lead was 31-0.
Jezik connected with Henson on a 36-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter and with the extra point added, the Marshals took a 38-0 lead. They scored one more time in the quarter on a quarterback keeper by Jezik for a 45-0 lead.
The second half quickly ticked down with a running clock in place to wrap up the Marshals shutout over the Lakers.
The Marshals had 211 total yards of offence. Luke Webber was the leading rusher with 43 yards on six carries of their total 115 on the ground. Tomasson had 36 yards on 11 carries. Jezik was 8-of-11 in passing for 96 yards. Leading receivers were Redmond with five receptions for 53 yards and Henson with two receptions for 41 yards.
After four straight home games the Marshals will hit the road next Friday for the first time to play Madisonville-North Hopkins (3-1). The Maroons suffered their first loss of the season on Friday to Fort Campbell 41-40.
