(CALVERT CITY, Ky.) — Local law enforcement made two separate arrests in Marshall County last week, one stemming from a theft at a popular boat ramp and another from a routine traffic stop.

Boat Ramp Theft Leads to Arrest, Hospitalization

Officers responding to the Cirrito Lane boat ramp on April 14 to assist Kentucky State Police and Fish & Wildlife units stumbled upon a theft in progress when they observed two men removing items from a parked vehicle.

An investigation revealed that the vehicle’s owner was currently being held at the Hopkins County Detention Center and had not authorized anyone to take items from his vehicle.

Dylan W. Emmons, 24, of Grand Rivers, was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition of contents from a vehicle. Joshua Wade Hatfield, 48, of Smithland, received a citation for the same charge. Hatfield was subsequently transported to a local hospital by EMS for unrelated medical issues.

Benton Man Arrested for Suspended License

Three days later, on April 17, an officer conducting patrol recognized a vehicle whose registered owner had a known history of driving on a suspended license. After stopping the vehicle and confirming the driver was indeed the registered owner, the officer placed him under arrest.

Raymond Channing Crisp, 37, of Benton, was charged with operating a vehicle on a suspended or revoked operator’s license, as well as possession or display of a cancelled or fictitious operator’s license.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
