Roberts and Ray advance to finals of KHSAA Girls State Golf Championship

Marshall County’s girls’ golf team played in Tuesday’s sub-state round of the KHSAA State Golf Championship at Hopkinsville Country Club for Regions 1-4. After winning their eighth straight Region 1 title, the Lady Marshals fell short in their quest to advance as a team to the state championship final rounds.

The top three teams from Tuesday will advance to the KHSAA State Golf Championship and the Lady Marshals finished fifth with a team score of 352. Teams advancing are Daviess County who placed first, South Warren and West Jessamine.

The top 15 individuals not on teams will also advance and Marshall County’s Katie Roberts and CeCelia Ray will move on. Roberts finished tied for seventh at +9 (80) and Ray finished 21st at +15 (86).

Daviess County’s Claire Reynolds took the individual win after a 3-way tie for first at +5 (76). Ballard Memorial’s Madison Glisson was also part of the tie for first place at +5 and will automatically qualify as an individual.

The girl’s final rounds of the state tournament will be played October 11-12 at Bowling Green Country Club.

Marshall County won the state golf title in 2020 and 2021 and finished runner-up in 2022 and 2023.
