Race #3 of the Kentucky Interscholastic Cycling League took place on Sunday in Burlington, Ky. at England Idlewild Park. Eighteen Marshall County mountain bike team members competed in the “Showdown at the Creek” and came away with two podiums and 10 top 10 finishes.
Riders adapted to the challenging conditions that were created from the remnants of Hurricane Helene that required the course to be altered into a cyclocross style race.
Stepping onto the podium at the end of the muddy, wet racing was Emma Roberts who placed first in JV Girls and Emmalee Downs with second place in 10th Grade Girls.

Four riders are in the top five in the overall series standings after the first three races. Emma Roberts is second in Varsity Girls, Emmalee Downs second in JV Girls and Brady Atkins sits in third in Varsity Boys.
The Marshall County team is in third place in team standings behind first place Hardin-Elizabethtown Composite and second place NKY Roots Campbell Composite. McCracken County is fourth overall and Livingston County Composite sits in ninth.
Race #4 will take place at the Livingston County Trail on October 13. A great opportunity to come out and support the local Western Kentucky riders from Marshall County, McCracken County and Livingston County.
