Crews working along I-69 between the 41mm and 51mm
PADUCAH, Ky. (Feb. 16, 2024) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans a work zone for litter pickup along a 10-mile section Interstate 69 in northern Marshall County today and Monday.
Several crews will be picking up litter along a section of I-69 between the U.S. 641-Spur Benton Exit 41 interchange and the Interstate 24 Exit 25 interchange near Calvert City.
A Calloway County Jail Work Release Crew will start at the I-69 Exit 51-A Flyover ramp and working south. KYTC personnel from Marshall, Calloway and Trigg County highway maintenance crews will start at the U.S. 641 Spur interchange and work northward. Crews also plan to work along this section on Monday.
While much of the litter pickup work can be completed along the right-of-way without lane restrictions, motorists should be alert for crews working in the median. Motorists should slow down and use appropriate caution where personnel and support vehicles are along the roadway.
According to KYTC District 1 Chief Engineer Kyle Poat, this extra round of litter pickup is in response to an ongoing litter issue along this section of I-69.
The litter pickup effort along I-69 expected to start at 8 a.m., today. Work along this section of I-69 is expected to continue on Monday, February 19.
Motorists should use appropriate caution where personnel and equipment are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic.
