Charles Augustus Zeiss, Jr., age 92, of Paducah, formerly of Jackson, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his residence on January 8, 2024.
Charles was born in Paducah, Kentucky on June 20, 1931, to Charles Augustus Zeiss, Sr. and Mary Metheny Zeiss. He was of the Methodist faith. Charles lived in Jackson, Tennessee for 42 years and moved back to Paducah in May of 2021. He was a big sports fan, especially when it came to Kentucky Wildcats basketball and Alabama Crimson Tide football. He was a 1949 graduate from Augusta Tilghman High School. After high school, he joined the United States Air Force for four years and spent most of his time stationed in Greenland. Charles was an employee at TVA from which he retired after 42 years of employment.
He is survived by his sister, Flora Bell Perdew of Paducah and several nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by three sisters, Katherine Dowdy, Frances Hassell, and Juanita Zeiss; his brother, Henry Zeiss; and his parents.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, January 13, 2024 in the Chapel at Maplelawn Park Cemetery with Rev. Aaron Dowdy and Rev. Kerry Zeiss officiating.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Paducah.
