Marshall County cross country teams headed to state

Marshall County’s cross country teams earned a spot in the KHSAA Cross Country State Championships on Saturday, Oct. 28 in Lexington at the Kentucky Horse Park. The Marshals finished fourth in Saturday’s Region 1 Class 3A meet and the Lady Marshals placed third to punch their tickets to state.

Addison Lyles finished state runner-up with her second-place finish at Yellow Creek Park in Owensboro. Lyles finished the 5K race with a time of 19:44.96. Taking the Region 1 title was Lucy Spaw of Daviess County in 19:24.01.

Kobey Yates recorded the top finish for the Marshals, crossing the line in eighth place with a time of 16:48.75. Taking the win was Bryce Revo of Muhlenberg in 16:06.22.

The top five teams advance to state from each region. Daviess County swept the competition, taking the team wins. On the boys’ side, Apollo was second, Graves County third, Marshall County fourth and Henderson County fifth.

For the girls’ teams, Graves County placed second, Marshall County third, Muhlenberg County fourth and Henderson County fifth.

On Saturday, the Class 3A boys race at 3:00 (ET) and the girls follow at 3:45 (ET).
