John L. “Sonny” Sullivan, 85, of Metropolis, IL, died Friday, June 23, 2023, at Baptist Health Hospital in Paducah, KY. Sonny was born the son of the late Coy and Flora Sullivan. He was of the Baptist Faith and loved flying airplanes and drag car racing.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 29, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Keeling & Goodman Funeral Home in Paducah. Burial will follow at Canaan Cemetery in Metropolis, IL. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
Sonny is survived by his wife of 48 years, Wanda Sullivan of Metropolis, IL; eight sons, Donnie Renfrow of Joppa, IL, Danny Sullivan of Metropolis, IL, Brian Sullivan of Metropolis, IL, Kevin Sullivan (Sharon) of Metropolis, IL, Johnny Sullivan of Metropolis, IL, Don E. Sullivan (Martha) of Brookport, IL, Ben Edward Anderson of Brookport, IL, and Charles David Anderson (Millette Burns) of Paducah, KY; two daughters, Belinda Sullivan of Metropolis and Paula Anderson of Brookport; two brothers, Roger Sullivan (Ann) of Metropolis, and Lindell Sullivan (Mary) of Hamilton, OH; three sisters, Neva Hicks (Joe) of Metropolis, Alice Shelby of Metropolis, and Brenda Langford (Randy) of Metropolis; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Michael Anderson; one daughter, Louetta Marie Sullivan; two brothers, Floyd Sullivan and Donald Gene Sullivan; and four sisters, Louise Reed, Valda Johnson, Jane Williams and Genevieve May.
